I think that listening is my most developed skill in English, I can understand it well and of course there are times that is more difficult but you always can manage it, at least know what they are talking about, although you can miss some words. The fact that most of the movies or TV programs are in English gives you the chance to practice your hearing. That is why I try not to put subtitles when I am watching a movie because you usually read instead of listening.
My writing skill is definitely my weakest one, is the hardest one for me. I think that in school they didn’t taught me enough grammar or maybe when I finished school I didn’t practice it again so I forgot everything, I don’t know. I used to practice reading skills by reading a book, speaking when I was travelling, listening as I said before by watching TV but writing never, I wish I had. The best way improving this skill is writing and a lot, in a computer or a notebook and also reviewing grammar. Reading books in English can help you as well because you are learning new vocabulary and you are getting familiar with when to use some words,verbs ext...
I think that a good way to improve your writing skills would be reading a lot and then try to write about it using your own words and the new ones you have learnt. Although most teachers say that grammar should be taught in a different way, not so directly, it is really important to know about tenses because then it is only repetition and apply the pertinent rules.

Now, I think you have to transfer that to writing, at the beginning, maybe it will be difficult, but you could begin writing small paragraphs about any topic and check your mistakes, little by little you will be aware of what needs to be corrected.

ResponderEliminarVale, I think that reading is a good way to improve your writing, because most of the times we don't have "that afternoon" to sit down and start writing different types of texts. So the most you read, the more familiar the structures are going to be for you.
ResponderEliminarI agree with Maria Jose. The more you read, the more familiar you become with the structures and also with the vocabulary. I think most of us don't write a text unless we have to, but we do have many opportunities to read texts in English. That is an excellent way to improve our writing skills!
